Sella basmati for rice dishes

Mahmood describes its Sella basmati as parboiled long-grain rice with a natural aroma. The grains are processed before milling and are intended to remain separate when cooked. This makes the rice a useful choice for biryani, pilaf and rice served alongside curries, grilled meats or vegetables.

Follow the preparation directions on the supplied bag. Cooking time, water quantity and soaking requirements depend on the method and batch size. Test your normal recipe before scaling it up for a larger service, and allow for the resting stage recommended by the manufacturer.

Plan your bulk rice supply

The Mahmood Premium basmati rice pallet provides separate bags inside each carton, so staff can distribute stock by carton or by bag. Compare your normal dry-rice usage with the 4.5kg bag size when planning a replenishment schedule. The net weight refers to uncooked rice; it does not predict cooked yield or serving numbers.

For example, dividing the pallet equally between four locations provides 14 cartons per location. Each location would receive 56 bags and 252kg of net rice. This is a stock-planning example only; the most suitable allocation depends on demand at each kitchen or store.

Receiving and handling the pallet

Check the delivery against the stated 56-carton quantity and confirm that the cartons are intact. The total net rice weight excludes bags, cartons, wrapping and the pallet itself. Use a separately confirmed gross shipping weight when arranging transport or checking handling equipment capacity.

Keep the product labels available for staff who prepare or sell the rice. Follow the storage and handling directions on the actual packaging, including instructions after opening. When receiving stock, check the batch and date markings on the delivered bags rather than relying on dates visible in a reference photograph.
